I have just this morning completed the stitching of my second project for the year. As with the first, this one is also from the lovely book Bargello Magic by Pauline Fischer and Anabel Lasker. This time I choose one of their Fused Diamonds series. There are 10 in all, and I went for No7. Here it is about to be loosened from its frame.
As usual this was stitched on an Aida 18ct fabric in light green. The outlines are in black and the centres in winter white, while the rest was stitched in various shades of blue. I used two strands of DMC cotton except for one colour – Blue Heaven, when I used three strands of this Rajmahal ArtSilk thread. The photo alas does not do proper justice to all the shades of blue, but it is the best I can come up with.
This particular version of the Fused Diamonds series is one that pretty much hides the basic diamond pattern. The completed pieces does not really look like it involves diamonds at all. Just to show that it is based on diamonds, below is one I did a couple of year ago. This is No4 and the diamond shape stands out quite clearly. This one was stitched with Pesian wool.
